Support Local Treasure: Dr. Gruesome’s Movie Morgue

Now for something near and dear to my heart. Yes, nostalgia. I am sure there is something you grew up with that makes you happy. Well, one of those things for me was Dr. Gruesome’s Movie Morgue. Dr. Gruesome’s Movie Morgue was a horror host show that aired on WRLH from 1988 to 1990, then again from 1993 to 1995 after a brief run on the now-defunct local cable channel BLAB-TV. The show starred Mark Bartholomew as Dr. Gruesome and Matthew Pak as his rainbow wig-clad, hunchbacked assistant Skeeter. In recent years, WRLH has occasionally brought back Dr. Gruesome and Skeeter for special Halloween programming.

The Dr. has put the good word out that him and Skeeter are tinkering with a Halloween special. However, the station is not making it easy on them.

In a show of support for a local gem of Horror Hosting, would you consider writing WRLH FOX 35 and letting them know that Dr. Gruesome and Skeeter need some help and there are people who are eager to see something new from the guys. 🙂 It’s a real treat! 😀

Write WRLH FOX35:

If you are reading this and you are thinking… Who in the world is she talking about?

Well, take a look at this page dedicated to the fellows set up by Film Director Sean Kotz (SEE LINK BELOW). Sean and Horse Archer Productions brought us Virginia Creepers not too long ago. It’s a documentary dedicated to exploring and revealing Virginia’s rich Horror Hosting history. It’s a worthwhile local documentary. Here’s the link:

  1. I thought I would let you know that Dr. Gruesome and Skeeter are scheduled to appear at the Byrd Theater in Richmond to introduce the Bowman Body documentary (and sequel to Virginia Creepers) called “Hi There Horror Movie Fans.” The event will take place on Sept. 24, Saturday afternoon.
