Steven Moffat has given us some really great Television experiences. In January, the second helping of Sherlock arrives on the BBC. In my heart, I would love it if BBC America would simultaneously broadcast the series.

The second series of Sherlock will debut on BBC One, with Moffat writing first episode ‘A Scandal In Belgravia’.

The premiere installment will introduce Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) to the show, while Being Human actor Russell Tovey will appear in the second episode, ‘The Hounds of Baskerville’.

Mark Gatiss will script the ‘Baskerville’ adaptation, while Steve Thompson will adapt Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Final Problem’ as ‘The Reichenbach Fall’.

Steven Moffat, co-writer of the BBC’s Sherlock, has given some hints of what audiences can expect in the programme’s second series.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, he praised the series for being a “faithful” adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels – despite being updated to a contemporary setting.

Sherlock – S2:E01 – A Scandal in Belgravia will be broadcast on BBC One on New Year’s Day at 8.10pm. It will be followed by S2:E02: The Hounds of Baskerville on January 8, 2012 and S2:E03: The Reichenbach Fall on January 15th.
